For this round of Alphabe-Thursday I'm going to try and take you on a journey around my neck of the woods...Houston, Texas.
I drove over to Space Center Houston today which is located right next to the Johnson Space Center. I like you but I didn't want to pay the $16.95 price to get inside. It's $16.95 online or $21.95 at the door and that's Senior Citizen prices. So, I had to go to the free little park they have right outside the entrance. I know I've taken pictures here before, but it's FREE!
This is a fake APPOLO capsule. NASA doesn't call it fake...that's my terminology. These prototype command modules were called boilerplates by NASA and were used for preflight testing. I have no idea why they called them boilerplates. Kind of a strange name...huh?
I took a picture of the sign and if you click on it you might be able to read the description.
If you'd like to see an actual APOLLO spacecraft there's one on display inside Space Center Houston and at other locations around the USA (and London, England). Click here for those locations.
If you'd like to learn more about the APOLLO program this documentary was made for the 40th Anniversary of the APOLLO program by NASA.
Now head over to Jenny's blog for a list of this week's participants. Thank you for visiting!
The prices to get into anything these days are ridiculous! You should find a lot to show us around Houston -- it's a large and interesting place! Hope some of your dolls go with you so we can see them in "action"!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and post for A ~ love the Apollo!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you,

Great post - I've been to the Space Center in FL, it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteVery topical post with all the excitement recently about the comet landing :-)
ReplyDeleteSo you guys just keep going through the alphabet? And you like space - my 4 year old grandson is OCD about it. He knows all the names of the planets - how to spell them - how many moons they have - what they are made of and so forth - he would love to go there.
ReplyDeleteHi Betty! I'm using the discipline of the alphabet also to get going again!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how thinking of letters gets me out of my own head sometimes!
I agree with you on the entrance fees. It's almost impossible to go to things. Some cities have certain days of the month free...I wonder if that might be true where you are.
Thanks for continuing to 'play' along with this meme.
I'm always happy to see you!
And I'm going to do a better job of being a friend.
That teaspoon still brings me to tears when I stir my coffee.
You are amazing.
And certainly deserving of an A+++++++++
