The first thing I thought of was the motto:
"UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL"
I think it's sometimes forgotten lately and I find that really sad. According to Wikpedia the basic concept is that unless the people are united, it is easy to destroy them.
Almost ten years ago we were united as one during one of the saddest days in our history.
United We Stand was also a song back in 1970 and sung by Brotherhood Of Man. When I looked at the You Tube Video I couldn't help but wonder what they must think now of the outfits and hair styles they wore forty years ago.
Now head over to Ms. Jenny's blog for a list of this week's participants and for information on how you can join in the fun.

We'll mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 in Romania. I'm not sure how I feel about being away from my home country (and unable to be united, at least physically) on such an important day. It will be tough.
ReplyDeleteI'd guess they are a bit embarrassed at the hair and clothes as all of us who lived through the seventies should be. Great and timely reminder for us.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
There isn't just an endless sadness for the attacks on 9/11; there is a different sadness for the loss of the 'unity' that was palpable in this country in the weeks following the attacks.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful post Wonderful U word
ReplyDeleteTHat is a great saying that we ALL should remember!
ReplyDeleteThat song really brings back memories. I was in between the hippie generation and whatever came before it, can't remember...lol....anywhooo the music was great.
ReplyDeleteI wish we were as united now ans we were then.
ReplyDeleteWonderful reminder. I was hoping someone would try and fit in a 9/11 tribute...
ReplyDeletewell done!
I agree with the others on your great post for 9/11. So many changes as a result of that day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
I loved the music video. (The styles of the 70's and 80's do perplex me! and I grew up in that time frame).
beautiful patriotism.
ReplyDeleteI do remember 9 11,
ReplyDeletethis is thoughtful.
wonderful post for Patriot Day. It really is amazing to me that it's been 10 years. May we stand United for many years to come...
ReplyDeleteDoesn't seem like ten years, seems like it was just the other day.My how time is flying.
ReplyDeleteYes United we stand!

There was truly a united feeling back then. American pride was everywhere.
ReplyDeleteAlready 10 years? I remembered that day, that moment very well! Beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteTen years...... how time has flown by!
ReplyDeleteWonderful/patriotic U word...
and great post!
What a great U post! Especially since we are nearing 9/11. Each time I see any documentary on the attacks it brings back the same dark, sadness that was felt all around the world that day. That day cut so deep into our American pride that I know we will never forget the horrible tragedy but it has made our nation even stronger! Such a wonderful post! Thanks for stopping by aprons and old lace.
ReplyDeleteLove this post!! I know 9/11 means a lot of different things to a lot different people!! Thank God we live in a country were we can different and voice those differences!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. I remember how united we all felt. It doesn't seem to have lasted though...
ReplyDeleteI remember I had a "United We Stand" sticker on my car. I also hung a GIANT flag on the front porch.
ReplyDeleteGreat U post!
Great post! I didn't know there was a video of that song. I think the hairdos of the '70s get me more than the clothes--not that I'm wild about the clothes, mind you.
ReplyDeleteWe lost a lot more than the towers 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a hard time for so many right now. I hope someday our country finds the unity we once had in so many ways.
Thanks for a thoughtful and thought provoking link this week.
Hugs and A+
I don't ever want to forget this happening as long as a live. So ere going to watch some things I taped ten years ago and re-look at some real footage from ten years ago.
ReplyDeleteLove, sandie
Amazing that it's been ten years. We must never forget.
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent 'U' post. I still can't believe that it's been 10 years since 9/11. Sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday when it happened.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and all Americans today, Betty.
ReplyDeleteAs a New Yorker I had a heavy heart today as 9-11 seems like yesterday, and not 10 years ago. I hope we can all turn this sad anniversary into a day where we can all do good and show kindness. Good to triumph over evil! It would be a fitting way to remember those lost lives.
