Welcome to
Warm Heart Wednesday sponsored by Ms. Jenny at
Jenny Matlock..."off on my tangent."
I enjoy reading quotes by famous people and not so famous people.
Some quotes are heart warming, some quotes are inspirational, and some quotes just make you step back and think.
I thought I'd share a few quotes with you.
This has always been one of my favorites. It appears on the base of the Statue Of Liberty.
"Give me your tired, your poor;
Your huddled masses yearning to be free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door." - Emma Lazarus
A few more that make me stop and think...
"No one is born hating another person because of the color of
his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if
they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more
naturally to the human heart than its opposite. ” - Nelson Mandela
"Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” - Martin
Luther King, Jr.
“If you as parents cut corners, your children will too. If
you lie, they will too. If you spend all your money on yourselves and tithe no
portion of it for charities, colleges, churches, synagogues, and civic causes,
your children won’t either. And if parents snicker at racial and gender jokes,
another generation will pass on the poison adults still have not had the courage
to snuff out.” - Marian Wright Edelman
“If we wish to create a lasting peace we must begin with the
children.” - Mahatma Gandhi
A few quotes I'm going to try and remember during this political season...
“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable
combination.” - Nelson Mandela
“No matter how big the lie; repeat it often enough and the
masses will regard it as the truth.”
John F. Kennedy
"The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude;
be kind but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be
humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly." Jim Rohn
