Genuine Fall Foliage Warmed My Heart

Welcome to Warm Heart Wednesday sponsored by Jenny Matlock at Jenny Matlock..."off on my tangent."

Jenny is back with something new!  Each week we are going to share something that gave us a warm  heart.  I'm excited!  This will be good for me.  I can focus on the positive and forget about the negative for a while.  I can remember to be thankful.  Every so often I need a kick in the _ _ _!  This came along at just the right time.

A few weeks ago I was asking my sister-in-law about the fall foliage in New Jersey.  "Are the leaves pretty colors?"  "Are they falling?"  I was explaining  how our leaves don't turn pretty colors along the Texas Gulf Coast and how much I miss a real fall.  With the A/C running 24/7 it's sometimes hard to believe that it's fall.  (We had a fire in the fireplace last week, but we turned the A/C down.  Is that cheating?)

Today I went and picked up my mail at the mailbox.  What a surprise!  My sister-in-law sent me fall foliage from New England!
It came from a company called and is genuine fall foliage from New England.  The leaflet explained how the leaves are preserved using some special process.  (I guess they don't iron leaves between wax paper anymore like I did as a kid growing up in New Jersey.)

What a neat surprise.  It certainly warmed my heart!

Now head over to Jenny's blog for a list of this week's participants.  Join in!

  1. What a sweet gift! I miss New England and the beautiful Fall!

  2. That is a beautiful gift. I have never heard of the like, I remember doing the leaves in the wax paper. Sounds like a fun meme.

that was a nice surprise - I like those unexpected sursises:)

  4. Hi Betty ~~ We are really blessed down here in this part of Texas. Good deal on the leaves. My Iowa sister is coming here for next week. If she hasn't left I could ask her to bring some colored leaves. The want to leave before the snow this weekend. :)
I changed my Texas Gulf Club chapter from the Montgomery one to the Katy group. I miss the hills and will be missing all the reds and yellows for the trees that don't stay green all year.
But I am thankful that our grass will stay green all winter.

  5. Presents in the mail are such a delightful surprise. I'm in PA and enjoying the beautiful Autumn foilage!

  6. What a unique gift! I remember ironing leaves -- somehow I think that company would have too many leaves to iron each one!

  7. What a delightful 'heart warming' ~ nice sister-n-law

    Happy Weekend to you,
    artmusedog and carol

  8. what a sweet gift! I would love to visit New England and see those leaves change. Our oldest son was there in Boston at the start of the colors changing. Lucky him! I think Jenny is a smart lady and this will be a great party to attend each week! Have a great weekend and thank you for sharing.

That was such a nice surprise! I couldn't imagine fall without the colors.

  10. That was a really wonderful surprise gift. We have lovely colors here in Washington state where I live so I wouldn't need to use that company but I think that's a great idea.

  11. Betty, your story certainly warmed my heart. You also have me wanting to preserve some leaves between waxed paper. Another reason to go to the store sooner than later.

  12. How fun is this? I remember ironing leaves between wax paper too!

  13. Oh sweet Betty. This touching gift warmed my heart! It made me teary. Thanks for sharing your blessings for this Warm hearted day! XOXO
